BENGALURU: Heavy rain, accompanied by thunder, is likely in many parts of the state for the next three days. The IMD has forecast thundershowers for the next three days in coastal and south-interior districts of the states.

Maximum temperatures will continue in north interior regions. There is a chance of rain in Bengaluru too, with a slight drop in temperature expected. According to the Meteorological Department report, moderate rain is likely in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada over the next 48 hours.

Thundershowers are estimated in the south-interior districts of Shivamogga, Chikkamagalur, Kodagu, Hassan, Mysuru and Mandya on May 8 and 9. A heavy rain warning has been issued for some parts of Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts in north-interior Karnataka on May 8.

Despite the rain forecast, there is unlikely to be much change in the maximum temperatures and in some parts of north-interior Karnataka, it will continue to range from 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) said that strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph may blow in some districts during the rain. Bengaluru city and surrounding areas will have partly cloudy weather. Thundershowers are likely in the evening or night over the next 24 to 48 hours.

The head of IMD’s Bengaluru centre said the city’s maximum temperature will be around 33 degrees and the minimum temperature around 23 degrees Celsius.
