MANGALURU: In a shocking incident in Belejn village of Belthangady taluk, the headmaster of a higher primary school took students on a study tour to an apiary (bee farm) in an overloaded pickup truck and tipper vehicle. The headmaster, Kiran, is facing flack for putting the students’ lives at risk.
The District Education Officer (DEO), Tara Kesari, has issued a show-cause notice to the headmaster, asking him to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him. The DEO has also ordered the headmaster’s suspension, pending inquiry.
The headmaster and two drivers have been booked for violating safety norms and putting the students’ lives at risk. The incident has sparked outrage, with parents and locals demanding action against the headmaster and the drivers of the vehicles. The police are also investigating the matter.
