BENGALURU: A spate of school bus accidents in Bengaluru has left citizens terrified, with multiple fatalities reported in the past few weeks. The incidents have raised concerns about the safety of school transportation and the reckless driving of bus operators.

Bengaluru’s roads have become a nightmare for citizens, with school buses being involved in a series of accidents. The incidents have sparked widespread concern about the safety of school transportation and the brazen disregard for traffic rules exhibited by some bus operators.

Three major accidents have occurred in the past 20 days, resulting in the loss of five innocent lives.

Mother and child killed in Viveknagar

A college bus collided with a mother and child in Viveknagar on January 19, killing them instantly. The mother, Sangeetha, was taking her child, Parth, to school when the accident occurred. The driver of the bus was reportedly speeding, and his reckless driving led to the tragic deaths.

Pedestrian killed in Yelahanka

A school bus hit a pedestrian, Thimmaiah, in Yelahanka on January 21, resulting in his death. CCTV footage shows the bus striking Thimmaiah while he was crossing the road.

Two children killed in Thanisandra

Two children, aged 2 and 4, were killed when a school bus collided with their father’s two-wheeler in Thanisandra. The father was riding with his children to buy milk when the accident occurred.

The accidents are attributed to a combination of factors, including reckless driving, speeding, and the pressure on bus operators to meet tight schedules. Many school buses are operated by private individuals, and drivers are under pressure to pick up and drop off children quickly, leading to accidents.

The police have expressed concern about the incidents and urged schools to ensure that safety measures are in place. However, the accidents continue to occur, highlighting the need for stricter regulations and enforcement.
