CHAMARAJANAGAR: A pack of five tigers has been terrorising a village in Chamarajanagar district, attacking and killing over 30 cattle in the past two months. The tigers were spotted near a lake and were captured on a CCTV camera installed at a farm in Anemaduvu on Friday night.
The presence of five tigers near Nanjedevanapura, just 12 km from the district headquarters, has created a sense of panic, and the authorities are under pressure to resolve the issue quickly. The tigers’ presence has disrupted agricultural activities, with labourers too scared to work. Farmers are struggling to manage their fields, and some are even selling their cattle and leaving the area.
The villagers are living in fear, with farmers abandoning their fields and some even selling their cattle and leaving the area. Despite complaints to the Forest department 40 days ago, no action was taken, leading to frustration among the villagers.
The Forest department has now swung into action, planning to use drones and elephants to track and capture the tigers. The officials plan to relocate the tigers without harming humans or the animals themselves. The villagers vented their anger when the DCF and the ACF visited Nanjedevanapura on receiving information about the tiger sightings.
The villagers have urged the authorities are urged to take prompt action to prevent any further loss of life. They are demanding that the Forest department take immediate action to address the situation and ensure their safety.
