3 Home Guards among five injured in cylinder blast in Badami

BAGALKOT: At leat five people, including three Home Guards, sustained injuries after a few mini commercial LPG cylinders exploded at at shop at Shivaji Circle in Badami on Thursday night. Luckily, there was no loss of life.

The injured include the shop owner Dadapeer Jamadar, Sahil Jamadar and three Home Guards. A fire broke out in the shop after a few 5-kg cylinders exploded. Dadapeer, Sahil and the Home Guards attempted to douse the fire and opened the shop door when they were hit by an explosion.

Firefighters finally put out the blaze.

The Home Guards had been deployed on security duty for a cultural programme. The shop was completely gutted and firefighters put out the fire and averted a major disaster as there were more cylinders inside the shop.
