BENGALURU: A man killed his friend over an affair with latter’s wife. The police have taken the woman into custody for questioning and are on the lookout for the other accused Dhananjay. The murder victim was identified as Vijay Kumar (39).

Vijay and Dhananjay were childhood friends and residents of Magadi; now living in Sunkadakatte. Vijay, an autorickshaw driver, was also involved in the real estate and money lending. He married Asha 10 years ago and the couple have children.

Asha had started an illicit relationship with Vijay’s childhood friend Dhananjay, which led to a confrontation between the two men. Asha, who was with Dhananjay, was caught by her husband with a photo of them together, leading to the clash. Despite this, Asha didn’t end the relationship and Vijay eventually moved to a rented house in Machohalli in Kadabagere from Kamakshipalya.

Vijay was at home until the evening on the day of the murder. Then, he left home in the evening and was found dead in the D-Group Layout in Machohalli. The Madanayakanahalli police have taken Asha into custody in connection with the murder of her husband.

According to Bengaluru Rural SP C K Baba, Vijay was an auto driver. “Two unknown people attacked him on the head and other parts of the body with a machete when he was going near Machahalli Cross at night on that day, just 700 metres away from his house. The police have secured the accused in the murder case in a swift operation”, he said.
