BENGALURU: The weather department has forecast rain in Bengaluru for the next 36 hours, with winds expected to blow at 40-50 km/h. The temperature is likely to range between 19°C and 27°C.
Cloudy skies with moderate rain are expected for the next two days. The monsoon rains have begun across the state, and the weather is expected to continue until May 30 due to a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert, warning of heavy rain in most parts of the state for the next four days. A red alert has been declared for six districts — Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu—for the next five days.

An orange alert has been issued for Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadagiri Vijayapura and Belagavi districts in north-interior Karnataka. Virajpet in Kodagu received the highest rainfall on Monday morning with 27 cm, followed by 23 cm in Bhagamandala and 20 cm in Mulki. Bengaluru is expected to continue experiencing moderate rain.
The city has already witnessed record-breaking rainfall this month, with 307.9 mm of rain recorded from May 1 to May 26, surpassing the previous record of 305.4 mm in May 2023.

The pre-monsoon has arrived early in the state, with the IMD predicting its arrival around June 5. However, it entered Kerala on May 24 and has now covered the entire state. This year, normal rainfall is expected in south-interior Karnataka, while north-interior Karnataka and coastal regions may receive more rain than usual, according to C S Patil, a scientist at the IMD.
