40-50 per cent of names dropped from voter list in 25 Bengaluru constituencies

BENGALURU: With the completion of the door-to-door visits by booth-level officer as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, 25 Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru see the prospect of 40-50 per cent of voters being deleted from the voter list.

In five of the Assembly constituencies, the names of 50 per cent of voters have been deleted. These are represented by Ramalinga Reddy, Satish Reddy, Muniraju, Krishnappa and S Raghu.

The final figures of SIR door-to-door survey show a decrease in number of voters. In all, 1,07,96,414 voters were identified as ASDDO.

The SIR door-to-door survey in the state has concluded. Across the state, deletion of names of 1.08 crore voters is confirmed and their names will not appear in the draft voters list. Names of those who are deceased, shifted, absent, and enrolled elsewhere will be deleted. In Bengaluru too, names of 47.18 lakh voters will be deleted.

The door-to-door visits by booth-level officers concluded on August 17 and rationalization of polling stations began from August 18. The draft voters list to be published on August 24 and filing of claims and objections can be done from August 24 to September 23. The claims and objections received will be disposed of between August 24 and October 22 and the final voters’ list will be published on October 10.
