BENGALURU: The suspicious death of a man and his young son at their house at at Gudde Basavapura in Chikkabanavara has turned out to be a case of double murder with the wife confessing to the crime. Both she and her boyfriend have now been arrested.
The deceased were identified as Abhinandan and his son Yaduveer and prima facie, it was suspected to be a case of murder as injury marks found on the bodies. The wife Harini has told the police that she killed her husband Abhinandan and son Yaduveer along with her lover Vinay.
Harini called Vinay home at 11 pm on Sunday and switched off the CCTV camera. She then killed Abhinandan by hitting him on the head with a saute pan, but her son Yaduveer witnessed this. Harini then planned to kill her son also thinking that he will land them in trouble and both she and her lover suffocated and killed the boy.
Harini washed the blood in the house and even changed the clothes stained with Abhinandan’s blood and washed them overnight. Later, she tried to portray it as if the child died of suffocation as Abhinav had slept on top of him. Vinay committed the murder and escaped, but was finally arrested.
Abhinandan, a resident of Huliyurdurga, was financially well-off and owned land worth crores and a three-storey building in Chikkabanavara. He was the only son to his parents. The accused planned and committed the murder thinking the property will become theirs.
Harini and Abhinandan got married six years ago, but there used to be fights between the two. Vinay met Harini on Snapchat in 2024 and the two developed a relationship with Harini sharing family matters with Vinay and both decided to get married.
Earlier when there was a fight, Harini had asked husband for divorce, but as he didn’t agree, she ran away with her lover for three months. Harini’s mother Vimala advised her and sent her back.
Last Friday, there was a fight between Harini and Abhinandan and it was then that Harini and Vinay planned the murder. Harini herself bought hand gloves for the murder and Vinay and Harini strangled and hit Abhinandan on the head and killed him. The child woke up during the fight, so Harini herself strangled and killed the child.
Further investigation is under way by the Chikkabanavara police.
