302 cookers seized from goods vehicle at toll plaza

BENGALURU: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the election flying squad officials seized lakhs of rupees in cash and pressure cookers in separate incidents.

The election officials seized 302 cookers worth Rs 4 lakh that were being transported from the city to Hubballi in a truck, ostensibly to be distributed among voters. Acting on the confirmed information, they intercepted the truck at the Jas Toll Plaza in Nelamangala.

The police detained canter driver Eranna and took him into custody. A case has been registered at the Nelamangala Rural police station.

In another case,  the police seized about Rs 5.20 lakh of undocumented cash being transported near the Koppa checkpost on Jigani-Bannerghatta main road in Anekal taluk on the outskits of the city.

During checking of vehicles, one Madhu was carrying cash which he claimed he had just withdrawn from a bank. It is said that the money was being taken to JK Industries at Attibele.

The cash found in a motorcycle at the checkpost and was seized by the police as he did not provide proper documents for the money. Jigani police and election officials have seized the money.
