260 gm of gold dust seized from two passengers at KIA

CHIKKABALLAPUR: Two passengers have been arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) after they were found to be carrying 260 gms of gold dust. The two passengers had arrived from Bangkok in Bengaluru.

The gold dust was detected during a check by officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at KIA Terminal-1. The powder was being smuggled in two packets stitched into the waistband of their pants. The passengers Lakshman and Raghvendra have been taken into custody.

The accused were preparing to travel from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad. The seized items have been handed over to KIA Police for legal action. The DRI is maintaining strict surveillance at the airport to curb gold smuggling. A case has been registered at the Kempegowda International Airport police station.
