Youth watching waterfall slips to death near Kollur; stranded tourists rescued near Pushpagiri

UDUPI, MADIKERI, BAGALKOT: A youth who was catching a glimpse of the scenic beauty of the Arishinagundi waterfall near Kollur in Byndoor taluk died after he lost his footing and was washed away in the strong currents.

Sharath Kumar (23), hailing from Bhadravathi, had come in a car to Kollur. He was watching the cascading waterfall after the heavy rain, standing on the edge of a rock when he suddenly slipped and was washed away. The incident was captured by another youth on a mobile camera.

Kollur sub-inspector Jayalakshmi and staff visited the spot and a case has been registered in this connection.

Tourists who were stuck due to an overflowing bridge were rescued by firemen.

In Kodagu district, a group of tourists were stranded on the Mallalli waterfall road after a bridge started overflowing following incessant rains at the foot of Pushpagiri hills.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with locals, rescued the stranded tourists with the help of a rope and got them to cross the bridge on foot.

A group of youths risked their lives on an overflowing bridge.

Up north in Bagalkot, a group of youths put their lives at risk by walking on a bridge which had gone under water and clicking selfies.

Following the heavy rain over the last few days, the Hipparagi barrage is discharging over 90,000 cusecs of water due to which the Shramabindu Sagar bridge near Chikkapadasalagi village has gone under water.

Ignoring the danger, a group of youths were caught on camera walking across the bridge clicking selfies. A slight misstep could have spelt great danger.
