VIJAYAPURA: A worker died after falling 130 feet in a chimney of the Kudgi thermal power station while installing cables on Tuesday evening. The deceased is Kishan Kumar Bharadwaj (32). He had been working with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) on contract from a private firm for the last three years.
Workers alleged that no proper safety measures are taken at the power station resulting in the tragedy. They also staged a protest in front of the NTPC office on Wednesday demanding suitable compensation for the family of the deeased worker.
