Woman arrested for killing home-alone landlady to clear loans

BENGALURU: A woman was arrested for killing her landlady when the latter was alone at home. The woman allegedly killed the house owner to clear her loans.

The deceased has been identified as Divya while the accused is Monika (24).The incident took place on May 10 in Konasandra under Kengeri police limits.

Monika, originally from Kolar district, was working as a data entry operator for a company for the past year and lived in a rented house in Bengaluru. She had taken Gurumurthy’s house on rent only three months ago and, at this time, she introduced her boyfriend as her husband. Monika was living alone her boyfriend would visit her frequently.

Monika had taken huge loan for her luxurious lifestyle and her boyfriend was in need of money to buy a Tata Ace goods vehicle. Monika had an eye on the jewellery of her house owner. Divya’s husband Gurumurthy runs a salon in Shivanapalaya in Kengeri Satellite Town.

Divya’s in-laws used to to to work in the early morning and she would be alone at home with her two-year-old child. On May 10, Monika stealthily approached Divya from behind and strangled her to death. Then, she snatched the 36-gram gold chain on Divya’s person and fled from the spot. A case has been registered at the Kengeri police.
