BENGALURU: A married woman threw boiling water on her boyfriend and hit him on the head with an empty beer bottle for refusing to marry her, at Chamarajpet in the city.
Bhimashankar and Jyothi Doddamani, hailing from Afzalpur in Kalaburagi district were in a relationship since their college days. However, later on, they had separated and in the meantime, Jyothi had even got married to another person. Bhimashankar, meanwhile, was working as a photo editor in Bengaluru.
A few months ago, Jyothi texted Bhimashankar that she too was living in Bengaluru and the two got in touch again and their love rekindled. Later on, Bhimashankar came to know that Jyothi was married to another man and was shocked. Following this, he started to distance himself from her.
Jyothi forced him to meet her and she came to his accommodation in Chamarajpet on the pretext of talking to him. She then again insisted that Bhimashankar should marry her. When he refused, an angry Jyothi suddenly poured boiling water on him and smashed an empty beer bottle on his head.
On hearing his screams, neighbours immediately alerted the house owner Syed Akbar who arrived at the place and shifted Bhimashankar to Victoria Hospital for treatment of his burn injuries. The police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Jyothi.
