Woman stabbed in the neck by spurned lover, dies in hospital

The woman was shifted to the Puttur government hospital, but did not survive.

MANGALURU: A woman was stabbed to death by a spurned lover right near the women’s police station in Puttur on Thursday afternoon. The grievously injured woman was rushed to the Puttur government hospital, but died of excessive bleeding.

The attacker was arrested within minutes of committing the crime and was identified as Padmaraj (30), a resident of Vitla.

The attacker stabbed the woman 3-4 times in the neck.

Gowri (25), a resident of Alike in Vitla, was walking near the Puttur women’s police station when Padmaraj, who was on a two-wheeler, suddenly approached her and stabbed her 3-4 times in the neck, leaving her bleeding severely. Gowri was immediately shifted to the government hospital, but did not survive.

It is said that Gowri and Padmaraj were in a relationship for the last few years, but had falle out recently. Today afternoon, the two had an argument at the Puttur bus stand after which Gowri headed to the women’s police station to lodge a complaint. Padmaraj attacked her with a knife when she was walking near the police station.
