KALABURAGI: A woman threw her own newborn baby, born out of an illicit relationship, into a garbage heap at Srinivas Saradagi village in the taluk on Wednesday. She was caught by locals and handed over to the police.
Early on Wednesday, the postnatal woman came in an autorickshaw, left the infant in a garbage heap, and was fleeing in the auto. However, locals saw her leaving the baby and chased the auto and caught her, after which child helpline coordinator Basavaraj informed the University police station also.
Later, the infant was taken to a rehabilitation centre and is being taken care of. A case has been registered in this regard at the University police station.
