Woman gangraped by acquaintances on the pretext of giving her a lift

BENGALURU: A young woman was allegedly gangraped by two acquaintances on the pretext of dropping her off to a church, in the city on Wednesday. The two accused have since been arrested.

The main accused Akhilesh.

The woman was going along Ejipura Main Road on Wednesday evening on the way to a church when Deepu and Akhilesh, who are cab drivers, offered to drop. Both the attackers are known to the victim.

The other accused, Deepu.

The duo, however, took her to a desolate place near HAL and allegedly gangraped her. They even threatened to kill her if she revealed about it to anyone.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Srinivas Gowda said the victim has lodged a complaint at Vivek Nagar police station. A case of rape has been registered and the duo has been arrested, he added.
