BELAGAVI: A woman, whose minor son was in jail in a criminal case, was allegedly forced into an illegal relationship with a man who promised to bail out the son. When she wanted to get out of the relationship, the man started leaking their intimate photos and videos online.

The woman’s second son was named among the 10 accused in the murder of Shanur Pujari in Gokak taluk in December last year. Mallikarjun Burli, who offered to bail out the woman’s son, forced her into a sexual relationship, against her wishes. Later, he even kidnapped the woman’s daughter and mother and kept them locked up, it is alleged.

Mallikarjun Burli allegedly sexually harassed the woman for a month.

Fed up of the harassment, the woman approached Bharatiya Samskriti Foundation and lodged a complaint with the police superintendent. The woman said, “Mallikarjun Burli offered to help us and took us to his house. We stayed there for a month. He offered to bail out my minor son and forced me into physical relationship and even threatened me with a machete. He is the father of my eldest son’s friend. He is now leaking videos and photos on social media”.

Pramoda, president of Bharatiya Samskriti Foundation.

Pramoda, president of Bharatiya Samskriti Foundation, said, “Mallikarjun Burli told the family that they face danger and put them up at his farm house. He then started demanding sexual favours. When the woman wanted to get out of the relationship, he started leaking their intimate videos and photos. On January 21, he kidnapped the woman’s daughter and mother and kept them for 10 days. He released them only after the woman paid up Rs 50,000 and demanded that a SIM card which he had given her be returned. The woman has destroyed the SIM card, but he is threatening her constantly”.

“She was pressured into the sexual relationship. Mallikarjun is married and even has grandchildren. He had apparently harassed another woman who later committed suicide. Such a person should be punished”, Pramoda said.
