Woman assaulted by son-in-law, denied to meet grandchild

BENGALURU: A woman, who had gone to meet her seven-year-old grandchild, was allegedly assaulted by her estranged son-in-law at Yelahanka. She is since undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The victim Kavitha, who works as a lecturer at the Government College at Devanahalli, was allegedly assaulted by her son-in-law Manjunath when she went to meet her grandchild last Saturday and he did not even allow her to meet the child.

Manjunath had married Kavitha’s daughter Sharanya in 2017. But from the early days of marriage, there was no compatibility between the couple. It is alleged that Manjunath was behaving erratically and fed up with her husband’s torture, Sharanya had committed suicide six months ago.

In this background grandmother Kavitha had gone to Yelahanka house to see her grandchild when she was assaulted. She is now under treatment at a private hospital and a case has been registered at Yelahanka police station.
