We had estimated win, Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra helped, says Siddaramaiah

MYSURU: Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the party’s win in the Assembly election is a major victory and said it is an indicator of the Lok Sabha election due next year.

“This is a big win for the Congress. We had said that we will get 130 seats and we have reached that number now. We had made out estimate based on the situation in the state, but this was a difficult election”, he said.

Siddaramaiah further said, “The BJP came to power in 2008 after conducting Operation Lotus and even the last time too, the conducted and operation and snatched power. Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra also helped the party and he will become the Prime Minister in the coming days.”

Supporters of Siddaramaiah holding placards that he will be the next Chief Minister.

“Given the trends, we will get more than 130 seats and I had been saying so in my campaign rallies. The Congress will form the government on its own strength”, he added.

Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah visited the counting centre and returned to his residence in Sharada Devi Nagar where a large crowd of supporters had gathered. Holding his photos, they also raised slogans that he will the next Chief Minister. Police personnel were also deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.
