Congress chief sheds emotional tears in front of media after Congress win in the Assembly election.

BENGALURU: With the Congress sweeping the Karnataka Assembly election, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar on Saturday turned emotional.

Addressing media persons at his residence, he said, “Progress means in Congress point of view working together for progress, working together for success. That is what I had said earlier. I assured Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge that I will deliver Karnataka to their fold. I cannot forget when Sonia Gandhi was coming to meet me when all these BJP people put me under jail”.

He added, “That is what is the confidence, Gandhi family and the Congress family at the entire country bestowed on me. I thank all my leaders in the state including Siddaramaiah, all the party MLAs, office bearers, party workers in the booth level, who took up the responsibility. It is not a one-man effort, but that of the AICC general secretaries, state in-charge general secretary, who they work like a block”.

Shivakumar, however, declined to reply about his prediction of winning 141 Assembly seats, but said he will speak to the media again later at the Bharat Jodo Bhavan.
