BELAGAVI: The Visvesvaraya Technological University had rejected the admission of 51 students to engineering courses for producing fake marks.

It was established that the second Pre-University marks card of all the 51 students were fake during verification of documents, scanning the QR code and the certificate issued by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

The 51 students had sought admission under management quota. All the marks were validated by the Technical Education Department, but the VTU has invalidated the admissions while granting college-wise approval. It suspects a scam behind these fake marks sheets.

The VTU now plans to write a letter to the state government about the fake marks sheet issued by the NIOS. All the students are from Tumakuru and Chikkaballapur.
