Eranna, a native of Vijayapura district, was among the first from Karnataka to return from Israel.

BENGALURU: With the first flight under ‘Operation Ajay’ bringing back more than 200 Indian nationals from Israel, Vijayapura native Eranna arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) from Delhi on Friday. Israel is waging a fierce war against Hamas terrorists and has been bombarding Gaza.

Eranna arrived in Delhi on Thursday night and was received at KIA by officials of the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Centre. Speaking to media persons, Eranna claimed that tensions prevail only in the areas bordering Gaza and that the situation is normal in other parts of Israel.

“I did not face any difficulty. I was in Ariel, about 40 km from Tel Aviv. The Israelis are attacking the Hamas in Gaza. The embassy responded well and they update regularly on a WhatsApp group. We were five of us from Karnataka who returned on the flight. Two people stayed back in Delhi while two went to Mumbai and I came to Bengaluru”, he said.

“Families should not panic, there is no food shortage. I have been in Israel for the last four years and I am doing a PhD course in chemistry. There may be 10-15 students from Karnataka in Israel of which five of us have returned and another 7-8 may return today. I am not aware of how many people are employed there. I will go to my hometown Chandkavathe in Sindagi taluk. I had come in June and returned. I will return soon as I have to complete my course this month”, he added.
