BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) recently launched a campaign to clear vehicles that were abandoned and parked on the roadside. Initially, the drive did give a shock to such vehicle owners through strong enforcement drives. But later, the GBA slipped up on monitoring, and vehicles have started parking again in the same places that were cleared.
Due to this, even vehicle riders are facing the heat of traffic. At first, when notices were pasted, owners cleared their vehicles out of fear. But then, for some reason, they have gone back to parking on the roads again. After footpath clearance, the issue that made a lot of noise in the city was the drive to clear vehicles parked haphazardly on the roadside.
On the road from Chamarajapet towards Deer Park, vehicles had been parked on the roadside for many years, causing major inconvenience to riders and locals in that area. Later, GBA’s vehicle clearance drive brought some relief to riders in this area. But that didn’t last long. In this area, haphazard parking is happening again just like before, and the same old problem has started once more.
Also, near the crematorium on this same road, not just locals, but even those coming to conduct last rites, are struggling to park vehicles due to the parking menace. Yellow-board vehicles from other areas are parking right near the gates, and people coming for funerals are having a hard time as they can’t park their vehicles.
As the GBA did not do monitoring after the drive, rule violations have increased again and the problem continues. Alongside conducting drives, the fact that GBA is not doing monitoring after the drive is leading to such problems again.
