MANDYA: Two youths died after going to swim in the Cauvery river at Balamuri in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district. The deceased have been identified as Mohan Kumar (21) from Thamaravadi village near Santhemaralli in Chamarajanagar district, and Ravichandra (21) from Kelahalli village near Jayapura in Mysuru.
The two, who had completed ITI and were working at Kaynes Technology in Belagola industrial area, had gone to Balamuri, a tourist spot, along with another friend, Vikas, when the tragedy occurred. Vikas informed the KR Sagar Police Station about the drowning, through farmers working in a nearby field.
Circle Inspector Vivekananda, PSI Ramesh Karkikatte, and staff arrived at the spot, and local expert swimmers along with fire brigade personnel, recovered the bodies of Mohan Kumar and Ravichandra. The bodies were shifted to the Mysuru KR Hospital mortuary. A case has been registered at the KRS police station in this connection.
