BENGALURU: Two young women, said to be friends and hailing from Nepal, were found hanging from a tree at a desolate spot near Shivanahalli in Yelahanka police limits on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Srijana (22) and Rita (23) and it is suspected that they may have committed suicide.
Curiously, a youth was found dead on the railway track near Srirampura in Jakkur, about 2 km away from where the girls were found dead. The is suspected to have committed suicide by coming under a train. The identity of the deceased was not yet established, but it is suspected that his death may be linked to the deaths of the two Nepali origin young women.
While Srijana was living in Hebbal, Rita was a resident of Jakkur and both worked as domestic helps in different apartments after completing their Class 12 exams. They had left home on Wednesday morning, but did not return in the evening. On Thursday morning, some locals found the two hanging with a single dupatta from a tree and informed the police who rushed to the spot with the forensic team.
Northeast DCP Mithun said, “Both were found hanging and right now, we cannot say if it is suicide or murder. Both had come to Bengaluru just about a month ago. Based on the complaint from the family members, we will take up further investigation”.
