Two women end lives along with four girl children in separate cases

CHIKKABALLAPUR, CHIKKODI: Two women, both of whom had two girl children each, ended their lives along with their daughters, allegedly over domestic disputes in separate cases.

The bodies of a woman and her two children were found floating in a lake near Mittemari in Bagepalli taluk on Thursday. It is suspected that they may have ended their lives in a suicide pact.

Locals, who spotted the bodies floating in the lake, immediately informed the police and the fire services. The bodies were later fished out. The deceased are Radha, Poorvitha (4) and an unnamed girl child, aged about one-and-half years.

Radha, who hailed from Baepalli, was married to Mallikarjun of Yagavakote. It is suspected that she ended her life along with her two children due to a domestic dispute. The Bagepalli police are investigating.

In a similar case, a 26-year-old woman and her two children ended their lives by jumping into a well at Sultanpur village in Raibagh taluk of Belagavi district. The deceased are Saraswathi Kirawe (26), Deepika (7) and Rithika (4).

Saraswathi was married to Kiran of Sangli in Maharashtra in 2016, but had returned to her parental home in Sultanpur about eight months ago, due to some domestic dispute.

Family members alleged that she was unable to bear the torture from her husband and upset over this, she ended her life along with her children. The Harogeri police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
