KOLAR: Two peacocks were found suspiciously dead at the border village of Berulli in Bhojampalli of Krishnagiri district in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The peacock is the national bird and is a protected species.

The peacocks may have come towards the village in search of food and it is suspected that they may have been poisoned. The carcasses were found on a farm on Wednesday morning and it was also being speculated whether they may have injested fertiliser applied by the farmers.

The Forest Department officials visited the spot on getting information and further investigation is under way.
