Two paratroopers injured after fall from parachutes during training exercise in Ballari

BALLARI: Two paratroopers sustained injuries after falling from a height of 50 feet during parachute training for soldiers in P D Halli area on the outskirts of Ballari on Friday. One of the injured soldiers was identified as Chinnaraj (25). Both the trainee soldiers suffered serious injuries with fractured leg bones.

On Friday morning, training jumps were being conducted by 417 soldiers. During the training, two soldiers fell to the ground from their parachutes due to a problem. Initially, they were admitted to a Ballari hospital for primary treatment. Later, officials shifted them to Bengaluru for further treatment.

Following the injury to the two soldiers, an army helicopter arrived at the ITI College ground in Ballari. The two injured soldiers were airlifted to Bengaluru by the army helicopter, police sources said. The army has not yet provided complete information about the incident and the injured personnel.
