Two more arrested in Hangal gangrape case

HAVERI: The Hangal police have arrested two more people in connection with the alleged gangrape of a moral policing victim. The arrested are Sadiq Agasimani, a trader (29) and Shoaib Mullah (19) who was working in a hotel.

So far, the police have arrested seven people in connection with the case while one of the accused in undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

On January 8, a group of youths had barged into a hotel room and assaulted a woman and a man who were inside. They later took away the woman on a motorcycle and then in a car.

A day after the moral policing incident, the woman had claimed that she was gangraped by about 7-8 men by turns, dumped by the side of a road and put on a bus bound for Sirsi.
