BENGALURU: Chain snatchers targetted a woman who was getting ready for Bhimana Amavasya puja and snatched her chain after pushing her to the ground, near Doddabidarakallu close to Peenya early on Wednesday.
The woman, identified as Vijayamma, was walking to her shop early in the morning when the chains-snatcher duo came from behind, pounced on her and knocked her to the ground, covered her mouth, assaulted her without letting her scream, snatched the chain and escaped.
The woman sustained injuries to her neck and face in the chain-snatching incident. Vijayamma later filed a complaint at the Peenya police station who have registered and FIR and taken up further investigation.
The victim, Vijayamma, told Public TV, “They came from behind and covered my mouth following which I collapsed to the ground. I held on to my gold chain, but they snatched my chain forcefully and escaped. I was going to a shop around 5.15 am when the incident occurred. Though I screamed, no one came to my rescue”.
