Two CAPF jawans on poll duty injured while cleaning weapon

BAGALKOT: Two jawans of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) on election duty were injured when they were cleaning a weapon on Monday morning. They were admitted to the district hospital where the shrapnel were removed.

The two were operated upon at the district hospital.

Dinesh Kumar Jha (38), hailing from Bihar, and Lakshman Nityan (44) from Arunachal Pradesh had finished their duty on Sunday night and were cleaning a weapon on Monday morning when it accidentally went off at the Ranna residential school in Mudhol where they had been put up. While Jha suffered injury in the left knee, Nityan suffered injury in the right foot.

Both were operated upon at the district hospital and the shrapnel removed. The two jawans are out of danger and are recovering.
