Two arrested for selling camel meat illegally in Anekal

BENGALURU: The Bannerghatta police on Friday raided a hideout illegally selling camel meat on the outskirts of the city and arrested two people on charges of illegally killing a camel. The arrested are Imtiyaz Pasha (43) and Mohammad Maz (29), residents of Hommadevanahalli.

The raid was conducted based on confirmed information about camel meat sales at MH Traders shed on Koppa-Begur Road. During the raid, camel meat was found heaped and being sold. Camel meat and a goods vehicle were also seized along with the arrests. A case has been registered at Bannerghatta police station.

Meanwhile, the Anekal police raided Hilite Supermarket, which was selling banned tobacco and hookah substances in the state. Banned hookah, tobacco products, cigarettes, and charcoal were being sold right at a municipal shop near the bus stand in Anekal town.

Based on confirmed information, under the guidance of Anekal Inspector Prakash, Sub-Inspector Siddanagowda and staff conducted a raid and seized a total of 171 tobacco items, 22 hookah jars, and seven boxes of Polo charcoal boxes worth Rs 40,000 from Hilite Super Mart.

Four people selling the banned items were taken into custody and a case has been registered under the Banned Tobacco and Hookah Control Act.
