Sadashivnagar Traffic police traced the car which was involved in hit-and-run case on Thursday last week.

BENGALURU: The Sadashivnagar traffic police have cracked the case of a hit-and-run incident in which one person died on the spot near Mehkri Circle last week. The police have now detained one person in the case and are questioning him.

D N Venkatesh, a resident of Cholanayakanahalli in R T Nagar, was killed after he was hit by a speeding vehicle last Thursday night. Venkatesh was returning his home after getting off from an autorickshaw near Mekhri Circle. The police managed the identify the killer vehicle as a black Toyota Fortuner SUV which was coming from Airport road to the city.

Venkatesh came from Mehkri Circle side in an autorickshaw and was headed home when he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

Police have detained one person to gather information about the driver and collected the CCTV footage from around Hebbal and Mehkri Circle.

Earlier, the police were searching for a Benz car based on eyewitness accounts, but when they examined the CCTV footage, they came to know that the killer vehicle was a black Toyota Fortuner SUV.
