BALLARI: A two-and-half-year-old boy was run over by a Toyota Innnova MPV in front of the Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli hospital on Tuesday afternoon, killing him on the spot. A dentist who was driving the car was arrested on Wednesday.
Basavachetana, the son of Satish Patil and Sangeetha, residents of Harogeri, was run over when he ran across and the car was entering the road. The incident was captured on CCTV camera and the Gandhiganj police had registered a case.
Dentist Sunil Bhandare, who was driving the car, who had abandoned the vehicle and fled, was arrested on Wednesday by the traffic police. Bhandare was working as a dentist at a private hospital at Deglur in Nanded district of Maharashta. He has been booked under Sections 304 (a), 279 (a) of IPC for rash and negligent driving.
