BENGALURU: Three construction workers were severely injured after gelatin sticks exploded at a construction site in Whitefield four days ago. All the three were admitted to a private hospital where two are battling for life. The Whitefield police have arrested three people belonging to an earthmoving company in this connection.

Around 10.30 pm on June 6, gelatin sticks exploded at the construction site while blasting rocks illegally. It is said that Kushal Earth, the company that was carrying out the blasting had not secured a permit. The company officials admitted the injured workers to a hospital and fled. They even did not inform the families of the workers, it is alleged.

The blasting was allegedly conducted without obtaining a permit.

The Whitefield police had booked Manjunath Reddy, Kushal Reddy, Prabhu, Lokesh, Vikram Marla and three others in connection with the incident based on the complaint by Kalyani, the wife of Srinivas, one of the injured labourers. They have since arrested Manjunath Reddy, Lokesh and Saketh.

The accused have been booked under the Explosives Act apart from various sections of the IPC. The police are on the lookout for the other accused.
