Goods vehicle, along with 250 crates of tomato, stolen

The pickup truck, carrying crates of tomatoes, was stolen.

BENGALURU: Thieves have stolen about 250 crates (two tons) of tomatoes along with a Mahindra Bolero Pickup vehicle in which some farmers had brought their produce from Chitradurga to the RMC yard in the city.

Thieves stole the vehicle when the driver was enroute Bengaluru. A case has been registered at the RMC Yard police station.

The vehicle driver Shivanna said, “About two tons of tomatoes were being transported from Challakere in Chitradurga in the Bolero pickup truck. Around midnight, when we were at the Goruguntepalya signal, an unknown car collided with our vehicle from behind, and four people who were in the car started an argument with us and demanded us to pay Rs 10,000. When we said we don’t have that much money, , they took us towards Budigere Road in their car. They dropped us at an isolated area and the escaped with the tomatoes and the vehicle. The tomato belonging to Rajanna and Thimmaiah”.
