Three go missing in Tungabhadra backwaters while fishing, body of one recovered

BALLARI: Three youths, who had gone to catch fish in the backwaters of the Tungabhadra river near Tambrahalli village in Hagaribommanahalli taluk of Vijayanagar district, went missing on Tuesday afternoon. Rescuers retrieved the body of one of them on Wednesday while a search was on for the other two.

Yamanappa (20), Raju (22), and Ajjappa (26) went to the backwaters of the river to catch fish, but did not return home even by night. Hence, family members filed a complaint at the Tambrahalli police station. A search operation was launched by the SDRF team, police and locals.

On Wednesday, the SDRF and police team retrieved the body of Yamanappa and the search for the other two youths was continuing. A case has been registered at Tambrahalli police station. The Hagaribommanahalli police have set up camp at the spot.
