Three from Odisha arrested for hunting, consuming peacock meat

The three men were arrested for consuming peacock meat.

TUMAKURU: Forest Department officials have arrested three men for hunting and consuming peacock meat, which is the national bird. All the three hail from Odisha and work at a brick factory at Maranayakanapalya.

The vessels and some meat, along with remnants of the bird, were seized and sent for forensic tests.

Over the last few days, the three men had been hunting peacocks and consuming the meat. Based on specific information, the Forest officials conducted a raid and 1.5 kg of meat and other remnants of a bird.

The Forest officials also seized the vessels in which the meat was being prepared and sent all the seized items for forensic tests. The accused have been booked under the Wildlife Conservation Act.
