Three dead, over 30 passengers injured in separate bus accidents

Two women died in the accident while more than 10 passengers were injured.

VIJAYAPURA, YADGIR: Two women died and 10 other passengers were injured after two buses belonging to the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) collided head-on near Madabhavi Cross in the taluk on Saturday.

While one bus was headed to Vijayapura from Sindagi, the other bus was going in the opposite direction. The front portion of both the buses were badly crushed due to the impact.

The deceased were identified as Sajeeda Begum Makanadar (36) of Donoora village in Basavana Bagewadi taluk and Rohini Panchal (31) on Vijayapura city. The injured passengers were rushed to the district hospital.

Due to the accident, traffic flow was affected on the road with vehicles piled up for 2-3 km on either side. The police had a tough time clearing the traffic and the two buses.

The bus fell about 20 feet from the road into an open field.

Meanwhile, one person died and about 25 passengers sustained serious injuries after a private bus rolled about 20 feet from the road into an open field after the driver lost control near Devapura in Surpur taluk of Yadgir district on Friday night.

The deceased passengers was identified as Balu Kumar (36) of Hallikhed in Humnabad taluk. All the injured were shifted to a private hospital in Kalaburagi.

The bus was on its way from Bidar to Bengaluru and was carrying more than 40 passengers. It is said that the driver lost control due to speeding. The Surpur police visited the spot.
