CHIKKAMAGALUR: Thousand of devotees and activists of Hindu organisation participated in Anasuya Jayanti and Sankeertana Yatra programme organised in the city on Tuesday. On the occasion of Datta Jayanti, many women from various districts participated in the procession before heading towards Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swamy’s Dargah/Peetha.
Curiously, the devotees found nails strewn along the road while heading towards the Datta Peetha.
At the Datta Peetha, Hindu priests will perform puja ceremonies for the first time. To prevent any untoward incidents during Datta Jayanti, over 4,500 police personnel were deployed. The devotees offered prayers at Bolarameshwara Temple and went in procession to Kamadhenu Ganapathi Temple. MLA CT Ravi offered prayers and also took part in the procession. The Shobha Yatra will take place on Wednesday as part of the ceremony.
Meanwhile, devotees and members of the Hindu organisations claimed that miscreants had strewn nails on the road leading to the Datta Peetha to disrupt the event. The devotees informed the police about the nails strewn on the road.
“I got information about the nails strewn across the road. I have informed the superintendent of police and DC about it. This is done by some miscreants to disturb the peaceful event. Datta Jayanti celebration is going well”, said C T Ravi, national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
