SHIVAMOGGA: Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy seems to be maintaining distance in obscene video cases allegedly involving his nephew Prajwal Revanna.
“I will take disciplinary action against Prajwal from the party as well. There is no question of taking his side or supporting him in the issue. HD Deve Gowda, and I behaved respectfully with women. Let the wrongdoers pay for their crimes”, Kumaraswamy said.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said, “Those who make a mistake, should be punished. Why are people drawing our family name into this case?’, he asked.
“I am not speaking in anybody’s favour. An FIR has been registered, an SIT has been formed, and there is no objection to a probe on the issue. I will not influence anybody, let the truth come out. We are waiting for the SIT report”, the JD(S) leader said.
As per the complainant, both H D Revanna and Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulted her.
He further said that the incident will not have much impact on the results of the Lok Sabha elections. Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of HD Deve Gowda is contesting Lok Sabha from Hassan.
“As far as election in Hassan election is concerned, we have first-hand information that our candidate will win”.
When asked on the reports about Prajwal Revanna fleeing the country, HD Kumaraswamy said, “What can I say, if you people ask about Prajwal? , How will I know his routine? Will he ask me and go every day? Let govt take the decision to bring him back, we didn’t know anything about it before, they’re living separately, I would have stopped everything, and it is purely personal. It happened between two individuals. if I had been aware of it, it’s a personal individual issue, I can’t check his moment every day. How can I check his moments every day?”
If this matter had been brought to our attention earlier, at least the embarrassment could have been avoided”, he added.
