BENGALURU: Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday said that this will be the last time he will be entering the Assembly hall, while stressing that he will continue to work for the party.

Speaking in the Assembly, Yediyurappa said he will forever remember the honour and respect given to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Till my last breath, I will make full efforts beyond all my strength to build the BJP and bring the party to power. There should be no doubt about this,” he said.

Further, he said, “After this session concludes on February 24, there is no question of me entering the Assembly hall again as I have already decided not to contest the polls. This is a sort of saying bye”. Even as he was speaking, one of the legislators, addressing Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, said the Assembly needs the experience of Yediyurappa. Another member even said Yediyurappa should make his farewell speech on February 24, the last day of the session.

Prior to this, Yediyurappa said, “It is certain that the BJP will come back to power with a clear majority and it is also certain that the Opposition parties will remain in the opposition benches, there should be no doubt about it. After the session concludes, I will tour the state and I will visit wherever I am needed. There is no question of sitting at home”.

Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri concurs with a member that Yediyurapp can make his farewell speech on the last day of the session.

“For the next five years, we will all make efforts to ensure that the BJP comes back to power in this election and the next one. Our legislators should fight the election with confidence. A lot of leaders from the Opposition camps are eager to join the BJP. Our MLAs should take them along and let us bring the BJP back to power”, he added.
