VARANASI : Exuding confidence in BJP’s win in the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, the party leader Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday said that there is a huge wave in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the country.
“There is a huge wave in favour of PM Modi across the country. Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is also the Lok Sabha constituency of Narendra Modi. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. We are all waiting for June 1,” Surya told ANI.
Varanasi goes to the poll on June 1 in the final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha election.
Reacting to the interim bail given to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Supreme Court, Surya said: “The bail given to Aravind Kejriwal is exceptional. We all respect the judiciary. Under the same criteria, in which Kejriwal got bail, Hemant Soren (former Jharkhand Chief Minister) did not get bail. But after the bail time is over, Kejriwal is going to jail. After the case against him is proven, like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Kejriwal will be also out of politics,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court’s Registry on Wednesday refused to accept the urgent hearing request of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for the extension of his interim bail by seven days on medical grounds in the Delhi excise policy case.
The registry said that the apex court’s previous order gave him the liberty to move the trial court for regular bail.

The top court on May 10 had granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1 to campaign for the Lok Sabha election and asked him to surrender on June 2.
Earlier on Tuesday, the SC refused to allow an urgent hearing of Kejriwal’s plea for the extension of his interim bail by seven days on medical grounds in the Delhi excise policy case.
The vacation bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan said the Chief Justice of India would take a call on the listing of Kejriwal’s application. (ANI)
