BENGALURU: Today is the last day for submission of tenders called for the feasibility report of Bengaluru’s first inter-district metro connectivity project. Many companies have already participated in the tender process, and today was the last day for the bids.

The dream project—the Bengaluru-Tumakuru metro service, howevere, may get delayed as the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha election is already in force.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to construct 19 elevated stations on the 52.41 km-long stretch. The metro line will starts from Madavara station and BMRCL plans to extend it up to Tumakuru bus station.

Yashavanth Chavan, Chief Public Relations Officer, said, “The much awaitied project will help ease transportation between Tumakuru and Bengaluru. The feasibility reports of several contractor companies have been submitted to the BMRCL. But, because the Model Code of Conduct (ECC) has been implemented, we have to wait for four months to finalise the feasibility report”.

He further said that the tender should have been finalised as soon as the tender process was over, and the state government may have finalised the tender after its assessment in the normal course. “The election code of conduct will be in force until the first week of June and it is unlikely that the tender will be finalised by then. The government may need some time to get complete information about this and finalise the tender. The feasibility report work will be delayed due to the factors”, Chavan explained.
