Ten people dead, 3 more critical, after private bus collides with MU on Mysuru-Kollegal road

Ten people may died after a bus and Innova car collision on Mysore Kollegala main road on Monday.

MYSURU: At least ten people hailing from Ballari, including two children, died in a horrific crash invlving a private bus and a Toyota Innova MUV near the Pinjrapole Society at Kurubur village on the Mysuru- Kollegal main road on Monday afternoon.

The speeding vehicles collided head-on near a curve and the Innova was completely crushed under the bus. The T Narasipur police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel arrived at the spot as soon as they received information and retrieved the bodies from the MUV. The vehicle was so badly crushed that its sides had to be cut open to extricate the bodies that were stuck inside.

Police and some other locals are cutting the car with power tools to extricate  the crushed bodies from the car.

According to the police, there were four men, one youth, three women and two children travelling in the car. With help from locals, police rescued some of injured people, including a child trapped in the car.  Janardhan, Shashidhar and Punith were immediately rushed to the Chamarajnagar government district hospital for treatment. The car was completely crushed in the accident.

Police officer Jayaramayya said police struggle to extricate bodies from the crushed car, were difficult to identify bodies.

Senior police officer Jayaramaiah P S said, “The bodies were completely crushed, and it was difficult to find out the number of people travelling in the car. Earlier, the local people extended their help and immediately shifted three people to the government hospital, who are under critical condition. It was difficult to extricate the bodies from the crushed car. Some of them had no limbs or arms and were heaped on one another. We had to cut the body of the car to get them out. We retrieved the bodied of four men, one youth, three women, and two children from the car. It is difficult to identify the deceased right now. We will investigate the incident”.
