Tanker, truck collide head-on, crash into toll booth near Huliyurdurga; three injured

The toll booth was completely damaged in the accident and two staffers were injured.

TUMAKURU: A tanker carrying diesel and a multi-axle truck collided head-on, damaging a toll booth at Doddamavathur near Huliyurdurga in Kunigal taluk on National Highway-33 in the early hours on Tuesday. Three people, including two toll booth staffers and the tanker driver sustained injuries in the accident.

The overturned tanker was put back on its wheels with the help of cranes.

The multi-axle truck, carrying vitrified tiles, was on it way from Kunigal towards Maddur when the driver lost control and crashed into the tanker. The two toll booth staff were resting inside when the truck crashed into it, completely destroying it.

On receiving information, the Amruthur and Huliyurdurga police, along with firefighters, rushed to the spot and carefully lifted the overturned tanker with the help of three cranes to ensure that it does not catch fire. They also shifted the injured to hospital and cleared the road for traffic.

Meanwhile, locals were seen filling buckets, pots and cans with diesel that was leaking from the overturned tanker.
