MANDYA: Durga Stalin, wife of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, offered special prayers to Goddess Sri Nimishamba, the powerful deity of Srirangapatna in Mandya district on Monday.

She arrived with some family members, close aides, and the daughter and son-in-law of Tamil Nadu MLA G T Devegowda. On the occasion of the full moon, she offered silk sarees, glass bangles, flowers and fruits to the goddess, performed the ‘madilu tumbi udi’ seva. Archana was performed in the names of her husband M K Stalin, son Udhayanidhi Stalin, and all family members.

Durga Stalin drew attention by offering prayers for about 30 minutes. The temple’s chief priest Suryanarayana Bhat performed kumkumarchane to the goddess, recited Durga Saptashati, offered Mahamangalarati, and distributed teertha-prasada. Later, Durga Stalin visited the Sri Mouktikeshwara, Sri Lakshmi Narayanaswamy, Suryanarayanaswamy, Sri Ganapati, and Sri Anjaneyaswamy in the temple, and sat in the premises to meditate.

Durga Stalin is a great devotee and follows Sanatana Dharma, adhering to Hinduism without yielding to any pressure or demand. The visit comes in the backdrop of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement about eradicating Sanatana Dharma from Tamil Nadu.
