The animal, known as Marangi, was found on an overhead water tank.

BIDAR: A strange animal, locally known as Maranagi, was found at Madanur village in Kamala Nagar taluk. The furry animal, which is bigger than a mongoose, has a long, thick tail.

Forest and Fire and Emergency Services personnel rescued the animal after a three-hour operation.

The animal was found when the waterman and the villagers were cleaning an overhead tank near the Shiva temple in the village. They tried to rescue it, but when it came to bite them, they withdrew.

The animal was later released into the forest.

The villagers then informed the Forest Department and the Fire and Emergency Services who rescued the animal after a three-hour operation. The Forest personnel later released the animal in the forest.
